This marker is in downtown Carmel, at the intersection of Routes 301 and 55, just a few feet from the Enoch Crosby historical marker. The marker says, “County Court House was built in 1814 and the jail was added in 1855. There was one hanging in 1844 and it is today the second oldest working court house in New York State.”
