I recently had my wife’s watch repaired at Jewelry Designs in Danbury. I am not a ‘jewelry person’ so I hadn’t been there the 12 years or so I have lived in Putnam. But what a cool place. It’s a great example of a business that has that something extra that makes it unique, a destination, something a typical chain store can’t provide. In this case, what sets them apart is that they make the jewelry right there, and there are glass walls so you can see the whole process. You can see the Modeling Room, Fabrication Room, Casting Room, Polishing Room and Setting Room. Aside from the unique set up, they impressed me with service. When my son and I went to pick up my wife’s watch, there was a delay. I had no problem waiting a few minutes. I wasn’t in a rush and my little guy and I were enjoying looking around. But the manager came over to me, apologized, and did not charge me for the repair. So I am repaying them with a little goodwill with this blog.
I know this website is primarily about hikes and historic sites, but I also like to showcase businesses that are unique, that add to the quality of life for Putnamites.
