Mahopac, NY

On Route 6, just north of the intersection with Route 118 in Mahopac.  The marker reads. “PUTNAM COUNTY created when Dutchess County was divided on June 12th, 1812 and named for General Israel Putnam, leader of Continental Troops in the Hudson Highland in the Revolutionary War.  Richard Muscarella, Putnam County Historian 2001.”
